A curved and cobbled road, Victoria Street is quite probably the most effective wanting road in Edinburgh. With vibrant facades it’s sometimes called Diagon Alley and apparently where J.K Rowling took her inspiration, it’s worth a stroll to capture the street scenes right here. The Royal Mile itself also provides oodles of photography opportunities with buildings dating again to the early 1800’s that lead in the direction of the citadel. Possibly the most popular place in Edinburgh to photograph sundown, Calton Hill overlooks the town and positively delivers with impressive views.
So yesterday, when my friend Kash invited me to stroll around the Water of Leith, one of his favorite locations in Edinburgh, I didn’t bring an umbrella.
Not busy apart from the occasional canine walker and safe as no bikes unlike different areas of Edinburgh. Walked all around Roseburn and the water of Leith to the Galaxy of Modern Art. And a plaque with a lovely, if fairly obvious, message — The Liberal Deviseth Liberal Things. The Water of Leith is a pathway that runs along a canal. It’s a stunning respite from urban Edinburgh, and we saw few others (although to be fair, the downpour in all probability put most individuals off!).
From here you can watch a sunny glow appear behind the Edinburgh Castle, seize lengthy exposure pictures of Princes Street from The Nelson Monument and watch as the city switches on its lights for the night. I could have even said on numerous occasions during our time there that I may most positively reside there. It’s one of those cities that as a photographer would keep you busy for years with so many topics to capture and scenes to compose not to point out the ever altering climate and light. At St Bernard's Well, don’t miss the spot just before the nicely and take an unmarked left all the way down to the water's edge.
We proceeded additional beyond Dene bridge and passageway rising at Stockbridge. We wandered around its little bylanes and ultimately ate a smashing dinner at Nok’s Kitchen, a becoming end to an exquisite night. This is a refreshing change of scene, and a dose of rural appeal in the heart of Edinburgh ! Starting out at the charming Dean Village we strolled leisurely alongside a mile-lengthy pathway which might be probably the most scenic stretch to expertise, with limited time.
Designed in the type of a seventeenth century garden it’s elegant shrubs are preened, fairly and blooming. You don’t even realise you’re in a city when you step off the Royal Mile and into this hidden area. Around the garden are wooden benches the place you'll be able to sit and absorb the serenity or you will get busy like me and photograph their hedges and neat lines.
