This is really a remarkable five-star book.
The Age of Insight is often a hard book to categorize. Professor Kandel's stated purpose is to demonstrate the way a knowledgeable scientist can write clearly about science so the interconnections between art and science might be encountered with people that know approximately the art. As such, this book is much more about informing those thinking about the humanities compared to those whose interest is in science. As a necessary a part of his method, there exists a circumscription around a narrow set of artists and literary figures as opposed to an attempt to make a universal statement. To have attempted otherwise might have made a hefty book into a multi-volume tome that few would read.
As someone who reads a great deal of art history, reputation science, and current research on mental processes, I was impressed with the conception of the book and just how deftly it was carried out in methods deepened my appreciation for subjects I have always been informed about. I was grateful of these new perspectives. I found the ebook to become enjoyable for the most part. If I have got to an element which was too elementary for the purpose I wanted to absorb, I just skipped quickly through until I got a chance to weightier material. I didn't need to do that frequently.
