The following is a listing of versions that are not included in the Java Edition launcher. If a version is labeled as edited, it signifies that the META-INF files in the jar are dated otherwise from the release date. It is because when these versions had been added (in 2013), the META-INF needed to be renewed. Variations labeled as edited are at present within the launcher; if a model is listed however not labeled as edited, it's not out there in the launcher.

Even though the newest Java Edition launcher contains an option to download a model's cross-platform server .jar file (whether or not it's for launch or a development model), this does not apply to all versions. The official Minecraft server program began to be developed when Multiplayer Test was released to the general public (0.0.15a (Multiplayer Check 1)). After Classic 0.30 (Artistic) was released, servers had been faraway from the sport, which is why multiplayer is not available in Indev and Infdev variations of the sport. Servers have been reintroduced to the game when Alpha v1.0.15 was launched (however, versions as early as Alpha v1.0.5 had multiplayer code in them, although it was unusable, besides to Notch, who used the code to check multiplayer), and they have been constantly up to date since. There are packages available that permit connection to Classic, Alpha, and Beta servers.

The oldest server model that the launcher will allow the player to obtain is from release 1.2.5.

Minecraft Launcher[]

The Minecraft Launcher was released throughout Alpha v1.0's development. This launcher could not replace itself, and each time a brand new update was launched for the launcher, a player must obtain it from minecraft.internet. This launcher was developed from 2010 to 2013, and continues to be available to be downloaded from archived variations of its page. It isn't identified how many variations of this launcher existed.

Through the 1.6.1 snapshots, a new launcher was launched. This launcher was built to replace itself, and the participant could now have the launcher window and the sport window open at the same time. The player may additionally change what model they had been enjoying without having to exchange minecraft.jar in the bin listing. This launcher was developed from 2013 to 2018, whether or not or not it may possibly nonetheless be downloaded is just not identified. The most recent version is 1.6.91. Blog

The newest Minecraft Launcher was made available to the public by Dinnerbone on October 26, 2016, by a twitter statement and a submit on the Minecraft Reddit group. This launcher not required java to be installed to run it, downloaded its personal runtime for the sport, and had extra superior features compared to other variations of the launcher. This launcher has been underneath regular improvement since 2016, and the current stable release of this launcher is 2.3.240 for Home windows 7+, 2.3.240 for Home windows 10+ (Microsoft Retailer/Xbox app), 2.3.240 for macOS, and 2.3.240 for Linux.
