There's a good news story on NFTs! Mojang has released a brand new guide to the rules around NFTs and Blockchain.

There are a myriad of scams in the world of NFTs, specifically when it comes to companies using "blockchain" when they don't require it. Thankfully, Mojang have listened and put out some rules and the essence is that "integrations of NFTs with Minecraft are generally not something we allow or even support" they stated.

Their latest news article provides an overview of what NFTs are, and gives a brief overview of the reason they have rules for server owners and content creators, which in brief is to "ensure that Minecraft remains a community where everyone has access to the same content". AARE The issue is how NFTs "create models of scarcity and exclusion that conflict with our guidelines and the nature of Minecraft".

Mojang make their position firmly explicit about it, declaring that "As as a result, to ensure that Minecraft players enjoy an enjoyable and safe experience, blockchain technologies are not allowed to be integrated inside our Minecraft server and client applications, nor can they be used to create NFTs that are associated with any in-game content, including worlds persona items, skins, or any other mods. ".

This is good, because it will hopefully stop another Blockverse project, which was supposed to be a "on-chain Ethereum NFT that enables an exclusive P2E for Minecraft". Can you imagine what happened? They took an enormous amount of money and then disappeared with the money.

However they're not ruling out the possibility of using blockchain in Minecraft to "allow for more secure experiences or other practical and inclusive games" however, they have no plans to implement it at the moment.
