People Become Attached To Their Characters

Aggrend, a WoW Classic game producer, recently announced that there will soon be a way for people who have Season of Mastery characters to be transferred into Wrath Classic or a regular Classic server. If you're not familiar with WoW Classic's Seasons of Mastery, it's similar in concept to Diablo 3 and its Seasons - a server that exists to allow all the players on it to start anew with level 1 WoW Classic characters and pursue progression as the content unlocks in accelerated phases over the course of a year. Naxxramas has been tested on the PTR and players are looking to the future.

You might not want to give up on a character you have been playing for over a year. People become attached to their characters. I've played the same character through several Diablo 3 Seasons, and I think letting players make a choice as described is a good move. They don't have the burden of having to abandon or wipe a character they've been playing for years with friends, collecting memories and collecting items that may well stay in their bags for ever. All my BWL gear is still in my bag years later, just for emotional reasons.

I can understand why some players don’t love this change. Some of the arguments are silly. Oh, so you wanted us to play SoM instead of TBCCC. Season of Mastery is, in my opinion, a limited experience with an end and a beginning. Naxxramas 40 is a Season of Mastery player who has been on Classic Era's farm for a while. I don't think that allowing Season of Mastery members to bring their characters along to those servers will cause any harm. Players who choose to go on a Wrath Classic servers? Grn online Naxx gear is great, but you will need to replace it before you reach level 80.

Yes, I believe this is a good idea. I also hope they think about letting players take the same character through Season of Mastery. They can reset them to level 1, move all of their gear and hold it in abeyance till the next Season of Mastery. Or, maybe just clone the character as level 1 to keep playing your SoM characters in a new Season. If they don’t, you can always roll again on the next Season servers. Now, you have the option of leaving for either the original 1-60 or the upcoming level 80 content. Either way works for me.
