Common readers of the location know that the upper administration is being shifted round here at Massively, meaning that Brianna Royce will now be in charge. Whereas we'll always miss Shawn Schuster's unmistakable voice and work on the positioning, the change will possible seem invisible to most readers.

I, for one, want to welcome our new overlord, for whom I have nothing but respect and admiration. By full coincidence, this week's header image occurs to be of her favourite animal. Additionally, I may have despatched quite a lot of present baskets of fruit to her home. And I'm certain we will all agree that earlier cases of tomfoolery shouldn't be taken under consideration when she now considers that she has full energy over me.

Transferring on from the welcoming of overlords, it is time for this week's installment of WRUP, that includes the Massively staff explaining our plans for the weekend in addition to whether or not or not a graphical upgrade would convey us again to our first MMOs. Check out our plans previous the break, and let us know what you will be as much as in the comments!

@Beau_Hindman: I'll be settling down on a brand new deed in Wurm Online, continuing to grind my teeth as I await my new Pc to get here, and putting my exploration cash the place my mouth is by lastly downloading IMVU. It is a social MMO that looks very... different. I'm also still gathering my record of pre-World of Warcraft MMOs for protection. Fortunately I nonetheless have most of my outdated accounts!

If I updated any graphics for some of my favourite video games, that will imply a downgrade for many of them. just say yes I would like graphics which can be more stylized, notably like these in Free Realms or Clone Wars Adventures. I would like to see a "severe" recreation performed with a extra stylized aptitude. Wurm On-line can keep how it's, but I actually want to see some new avatars. I do know they're coming, but boy, I can't wait!

@nyphur: This weekend I'll be entertaining a visiting Swedish buddy from my outdated World of Warcraft guild, working arduous on Predestination, and attempting to convince my housemates to play more Guild Wars 2!

My first MMO was RuneScape, and its graphical updates have really brought me again several occasions. I began back when it was a blocky world with 2-D goblin sprites, and the primary big 3-D replace hooked me back in for a number of months. I've returned periodically to see what the sport is like, and the graphics are definitely the very first thing I look for. EVE On-line has the same impact, with massive graphical updates pulling folks again in to try the sport again.

@nbrianna: I'll be dividing my sport time between Guild Wars 2 and City of Heroes. Double XP is on completely in CoH, I hear, so it is the proper time to roll up a new character in time for the Positron's Ally occasion subsequent week.

My first MMO was Ultima Online, and graphical upgrades did carry me again many instances. That sport has had more improved clients than any MMO I know... but these upgraded shoppers often get abandoned by the staff earlier than they're finished because a lot of the veterans simply refuse to modify. Very frustrating!

@Eliot_Lefebvre: Metropolis of Heroes, Star Wars: The Outdated Republic, and the ever-widespread Offering Help to a Cherished One with a Chilly. At some point I will really play Guild Wars 2 for greater than 10 minutes at a stretch. If I'm lucky, will probably be before the top of the decade.

I am actually the fallacious particular person to ask about returning to a game for a graphical upgrade as a result of graphics have by no means been what's turned me off from a game. I didn't initially depart Last Fantasy XI because of the graphics; I left because the sport wasn't really enjoyable to play. If I see indicators that the game I did not like X period of time ago has gotten higher, I am going to come running right back, but putting a new coat of paint on a recreation I wasn't enjoying would not lure me back.

@elixabethclaire: The secret World continues to be on pause for me as I devote my time to Guild Wars 2. I would like to hit 80 by the center of the upcoming week, so I'll be doing a number of PvE and WvW this weekend. I did not mean to, however I've acquired a whole agenda plotted out for my non permanent "major" after she hits 80, not to say a little bit roster of who is in want of leveling after her.

Not a lot gaming for me this weekend. Maybe some The secret World.

I go back and play all of my outdated MMOs anyway regardless of updates, though I'm very a lot wanting ahead to Anarchy Online's eventual reskin. just say yes

@Sypster: My MMO to do checklist is a mile extensive at this point. I actually need to place a cap on Volume III Guide 6 in Lord of the Rings Online, try the new Autumn Festival in RIFT, get through Egypt in The key World, and make the big bucks in Guild Wars 2.

As for graphical upgrades, nicely, if Anarchy On-line ever gets that newfangled redux off the bottom, then you possibly can bet I will be first in line. It might be great to see what a slightly extra up to date AO would appear to be.

@JayeRnH: This weekend I'm busy with a family trip, but in any spare time I have, I'm going to log into RIFT and grasp out next to Atrophinius within the Autumn occasion simply to hear his hilarious voice-overs. Apart from that, I am going to in all probability pop into Minecraft with the children so we will work on our tree house.

My first MMO was EverQuest, and I'd be extra more likely to return if the game truly reverted back to the old graphics of avatars and revamped zones.

@mvmatt: This weekend is my roommate's birthday, so we have obtained some mutual buddies coming to stay for the weekend. In consequence, my gaming time might be going to be occupied more by break up-screen mayhem than MMO funtimes. But if the opportunity arises, I'll be splitting my time between The secret World and Guild Wars 2.

And would I return to EverQuest or Ultima Online if both one acquired a graphical update? That's a good question. I need to say sure, but I don't know if I'd be telling the reality. I loved UO and EQ back in the day, but I think it might take a bit greater than a graphical upgrade to make me a participant again. For each charmingly dated feature that I fondly remember, there is a plethora of actually archaic design choices that I don't assume I would be in a position to put up with.

@MJ_Guthrie: Oh my gosh! I get to game this weekend!! *virtually faints with pleasure* How much can I cram in? Let's see, the vote will not be in for Choose my Adventure, so The secret World will be on hold till Monday. (By the best way, go vote!). To fill my weekend, I am going to dive into GW2 extra (I really want to take a look at an Asura), begin plotting more for my EverQuest II group shopping district as well as take in a couple of dungeons, and spread my wings in Aion to complete up some quests and maybe even get just a few rounds of PvP Arenas in. I also plan on eating pizza. Mmm.

I might return if they'd flip the blasted servers back on! just say yes (RIP Star Wars Galaxies.)

@mackeypb: I've been enjoying more Touhou Hisoutensoku (not that any of you realize what that is), as well as League of Legends. I'm at the moment carrying as Graves, although I'm pretty certain these reading my column already know that. It feels good to play more airdash fighters, though; I really feel like a bit of a void has been filled in my gamer heart.

In order for me to return to EQ, it could take a greater sport, not a graphical replace. Really, graphical updates imply nearly nothing to me. If the identical EQ graphics as in 2000 have been on prime of the GW2 engine, I might still be down for playing it. Excessive-quality graphics are a bonus, not a necessity.

@terilynns: I shall be leaping into Star Trek Online this weekend to play a couple of Foundry missions to discuss on my UGC podcast. I'll even be in Lord of the Rings On-line as I discover it very relaxing to farm and craft in that recreation. If time permits, I shall be again in Glitch as nicely. And sure, the rumors are true: Some persons are twisting my arm to provide Guild Wars 2 a strive. I might choose it up this weekend.

I'm really glad this week's query does not apply to me. My first MMO is still my favorite, and it is a wonderful game -- Star Trek On-line!

Initially of each weekend, we meet up with the Massively employees members and ask them, "What are you taking part in this week?" (Otherwise often known as: WRUP!) Be a part of us to see what we're up to in and out of recreation -- and catch us within the comments to let us know what you're taking part in, too!
